Peas

Peas are one of the most important leguminous crops. In terms of use, it can be grown for grain, green fodder, silage or hay, alone or mixed with other plants.

From an agro-technical point of view, peas increase soil fertility, leaving it rich in nitrogen and organic matter, and leave the soil free of weeds and ravain, making it an excellent pre-plant for growing wheat.

From a financial point of view, it helps lower fertiliser costs and, on top of that, gives the farmer access to various government subsidies.

In Romania, an area of about 100 000 hectares was cultivated in 2020, with an average production of 1152 kg/ha (www.insse.ro) and the counties with more important share in total pea production were: Dolj ,Teleorman, Constanta, Olt and Mehedinți
